Important Events on 28th of October
1492 A.D. =  Christopher Columbus discover  Cuba on his First Voyager to the New World and claims it for Spain and called it as "Juana".

1776 A.D. = During American Revolutionary War on this day, British troops attack and capture Chatterton Hill from the Continental Army.

1831 A.D. = Most important invention of human history or particular of modern civilization by Michael Faraday. On this day he demonstrates his Dynamo Invention (an electrical generator).

1886 A.D. = Famous Statue of Liberty was dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in New York Harbor. This statue was a gift from the people of France, commemorating the French-American alliance during the American Revolutionary War. It was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and the entire structure stands 300 feet tall. The pedestal of this statue contains words which are as follows:
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
The official name of Statue of Liberty is - "Liberty Enlightening the World." However, this statue is also known as "Lady Liberty", "The Mother of Exiles" and "The Lady of the Harbor" and has many symbolic features.

1904 A.D. = First time in human history, fingerprint was officially used in the United States of America in St. Louis Police Department on 28 October, 1904.

1918 A.D. = The Republic of Czechoslovakia was founded; it was assembled from three provinces - Bohemia, Moravia, and Slovakia, which had been part of the former Austro-Hungarian empire.

1924 A.D. = A Miner named 'M.de Bruin' discovers the infant fossil skull, "Taung child" in a lime quarry in Taung, South Africa. Paleoanthropologist Raymond Dart identifies the fossil as a new hominin species, Australopithecus africanus. It is a great discovered to supplement Human Evolution Chart.

1940 A.D. = Italy invades Greece in World War II.

1954 A.D. = Writer Ernest Miller Hemingway won the Nobel Prize in Literature.

1962 A.D. = The Cuban Missile Crisis Ended. In return, the United States agreed not to invade Cuba again. It was ended with the announcement by Soviet Russia's leader Nikita Khrushchev that his Soviet government was halting construction of missile bases in Cuba and would remove the offensive missiles. In return, the then President Kennedy of United States of America agreed not to invade Cuba again and immediately accepted the offer then lifted the U.S. Naval Blockade of Cuba.

1971 A.D. = Satellite named "Prospero" became the first British satellite to have been launched successfully by a British rocket.

1981 A.D. = Underground Metro Train Compartments were tested on trial basis at Calcutta, Republic of India.

2009 A.D. = Ares I-X mission was successfully launched by NASA.

2014 A.D. = In an unfortunate event, a rocket carrying NASA's Cygnus CRS Orb-3 resupply mission to the International Space Station explodes seconds after taking off from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Wallops Island, Virginia.

2015 A.D. = The World Health Organization (WHO) ranked Tuberculosis as deadly disease as HIV in its list of the "World’s Most Deadly Diseases".

1914 A.D. = Dr. Jonas Salk (He developed vaccine for the dreaded childhood disease Polio -"poliomyelitis" also known as infantile paralysis. His vaccine reduced deaths from Polio in the U.S. by 95%).

1955 A.D. = Bill Gates (American Business Magnate).
